I'm thinking of a place that is gorgeous in the fall, average day time temperature this time of year is mid 60's in the daytime, low to mid 40's at night. I'm also dreaming of sitting on a porch while knitting and enjoying the view of a harbor, shopping in the local yarn stores, going to lighthouses, walking around enjoying the beautiful leaves, shopping in quaint little shops, sharing a bottle....or two of good wine with friends in the evening while knitting and recounting the events of the day.......I'm thinking of LOBSTER too!!!

Are you guessing New England?? Perhaps MAINE!!??!! Can't you just taste the hot spiced cider and hear the word to every James Taylor song you ever listened to? (For some reason James Taylor is "Fall" music to me!).

Fall 2007 Knitters Retreat, Camden, Maine! If you T.H.I.N.K. you might be interested please let us know as we need to get some kind of idea of how many are going so we can decide on renting a house vs B&B vs hotel. We are looking at possibly the last week of September or first part of October for a long weekend.

Many, many more details to come in the following months!! Once we have a rough estimate of how many will be attending we can get some pricing together for rooms, flights, etc.

There's an alpaca farm in St. Floridan, Alabama. Not only are alpacas raised, but the farm's owner has a line of clothing made from the alpaca wool, including beautiful sweaters and cardigans, hats, scarves, and blankets.

I emailed the owner, Erika, and asked if she ever sold any of the yarn she produces - she does! It's $75/lb wholesale and $6/oz. Hmmm...I would just love to be able to tell someone, "oh yes...this is my Alabama alpaca scarf!". So neat!!

Chicks With Sticks met last night and what a night it was!! Ginger joined our group last night!
(YES this picture WAS taken at the Coffee House......NO I am not drunk....I just appear that way!)

Insert Disclaimer: I promise to take my time when making future pics for our blog....to wear my glasses when reviewing and to utilize the DELETE button on those pics that are most unflattering.....but until then I have the following pictures.

Jan brought several of her felted purses.....we sort of got out of hand with them....this is the edited version. Hee! Hee! Even the ladies from the Presbyterian Charity Knitting group got in on the "action"!!

The desert of the night was THIS!!!

YUMMY....Chocolate!!!!

The award of the night went to Stuart who learned to knit last night!!! YEA STUART!!!!

Now for a few random pics.....

Bibby works on a really cool purse!!

Exactly how many scarves are too many to wear???

Kristie works on a scarf and it's looking GREAT!! Kristie is a new knitter and doing an AWESOME job.....took me waaaayyy longer to catch on!!

Jan always comes up with great patterns, ideas, etc. The project of the night was her "Las Vegas" scarf. Using her triangle scarf pattern, six different yarns and a dice....yep....a DICE. Each yarn was assigned a number. Jan rolls the dice to see what number she gets and that is the yarn she casts on and knits a few rows with.....then rolls the dice again and casts on the new yarn....SUCH a cute idea!!! I'm not real sure what was going on when she rolled the dice and hollered "jackpot" though!! LOL!!!

I'm sorry I didn't get a better pic of Jan with her scarf.....and managed to completely cut off Camille's head......what can I say.....I am my mothers daughter and she is the queen of cutting off heads! LOL!! I will strive to settle down next time, make better pics to post ladies!!

Looking forward to next time, September 21st!

Jan, I'm sorry I didn't get a better pic of you and your scarf and Camille....sorry I didn't get a full pic of you! :)

Chicks With Sticks will meet tonight at 6:30!

We need to be thinking about a road trip to Serendipity in Tuscaloosa! Dates for away games are as follows:
Sept. 23, Sept. 30, Oct. 21, Nov. 11

Please check your calendars and let me know ALL dates you are available....we will choose a date based on the majority.

Regarding the purchase of yarn......I have confessed being a yarn collector of gigantimous proportions....indeed have created SABLE......Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy.....yet I lust.....I mean.....want more!!! I offer the following 12 step program to others.....in hopes that we may memorize these steps PRIOR to our roadtrip!! Disclaimer: This in no way is meant to make fun of anyone that may be involved in ANY 12 step program!! I have seen many different variations of the "12 step" program, including knitting and in fact stole this idea from someone else.....hmmm....may need to create one for "stealing"!! LOL!!

The 12 Steps of Yarn Collectors Anonymous

1. We admit we are powerless over yarn, that our yarn bins have become SABLE (Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy), therefore we need to abstain from purchasing yarn until we have de-stashed.

2. We believe that only a power greater than ourselves can restore our sanity and allow us to knit from our stash before purchasing more yarn....and then for specific projects only.

3. We have made a decision NEVER to give up on yarn but to knit within the boundaries of our own personal yarn bins.

4. We have made a searching and fearless inventory of our yarn stash and acknowledge that "it is good".

5. We have admitted to our friends, spouse and most importantly to ourselves that our irrational desire for yarn, for MORE yarn is one that we will struggle with for the rest of our lives and must address on a daily basis!

6. We acknowledge that we are entirely ready to knit from our stash without a "war within"....to buy more yarn!

7. We humbly ask the yarn gods to keep our wool stash free of moths.

8. We will willing make a list of all projects we bought yarn for, or projects started and not finished....and do so solemnly vow to finish these projects before purchasing more yarn.

9. We vow to make direct amends to others (whenever possible)...to allow others to shop for yarn without our participation.

10. We vow to continually take "inventory" of our stash, reveling in the accomplishments of knitting from our stash and when we stumble and purchase more yarn we will promptly
